My New Staple
SPANXsupersmooth™ PerfectFit Ponte Slim Straight Pant has become the staple in my wardrobe. In addition to the simplicity of these pants (I can just pull them on and go!), I also appreciate their versatility. I bought the SPANXsupersmooth™ PerfectFit Ponte Slim Straight Pant, thinking that I would wear it for work only, but I have also worn these pants to my going-out’s. I initially thought that other SPANX pants, the SPANXsupersmooth™ Stretch Twill Slim Straight Pant, would be the staple in my wardrobe because they come with a button closure and functional zipper, belt loops, and real pockets, but wearing the Ponte pants, I have realized that I do not actually need all of these details as long as the pants fit me well. I feel like L (regular) fits me, although I’m 34. 25” (87 cm) in the waist, so, according to the size guide, I should have gotten XL. Looking at how L fits me, I am afraid that XL would be too loose in the groin and too wide in the thighs. I also went for L because I am a true L in SPANXsupersmooth™ PerfectFit Ponte Ankle Slim Pant, which is no longer available on the website, and I thought that the SPANXsupersmooth™ PerfectFit Ponte Slim Straight Pant would be similar its ankle version. However, these two versions do fit differently besides just the difference in leg length. Under the Size & Fit description, the SPANXsupersmooth™ PerfectFit Ponte Slim Straight Pant is described to hit at the ankle. For me (I am 5’5. 5” or 166 cm tall), the pants (regular, 30. 5” inseam) are longer than the intended length, BUT I have not washed them yet, and I expect them to shrink in the laundry. I am saying this because the Ponte ankle slim pants, which were initially also longer for me than the intended length (above the ankle), did get significantly shorter after I had washed them—they went from 29” inseam (regular) to 27”, which now does hit above the ankle. I would definitely recommend the SPANXsupersmooth™ PerfectFit Ponte Slim Straight Pant as a versatile piece for any woman’s closet. From my experience, these pants run slightly large, but I also prefer more compression around the abdomen. I would also expect them to shrink in the laundry, so depending on the preference for leg length, sizing up on the inseam may be needed.
